I have been an Issaquah resident since 1983. I grew up in this beautiful city and love the community. For two years I participated in the Seattle Turkey Trot and loved it. My second year participating in the Seattle Turkey Trot, I noticed there were many friends and community members that had driven to Seattle to participate. It was after the event that I decided to bring the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving tradition to Issaquah to help our local neighbors in need.
The first year (2010) we were able to raise $4,000 for the Issaquah Food Bank and were put to the test with a snow storm on Thanksgiving morning. In the past 7 years, the Issaquah Turkey Trot has raised over $206,000.
The Issaquah Food Bank and the City of Issaquah are now much more involved in the planning and organizing of the Issaquah Turkey Trot along with my husband, Tom Matthews, our four boys, family, friends and a many wonderful volunteers.
