I have been an Issaquah resident since 1983. I grew up in this beautiful city and love the community. For two years I participated in the Seattle Turkey Trot and loved it. My second year participating in the Seattle Turkey Trot, I noticed there were many friends and community members that had driven to Seattle to participate. It was after the event that I decided to bring the Turkey Trot Thanksgiving tradition to Issaquah to help our local neighbors in need.
The first year we were able to raise $4,000 for the Issaquah Food Bank and were put to the test with a snow storm on Thanksgiving morning. In the past 7 years, the Issaquah Turkey Trot has raised over $206,000.
Along with my husband, Tom Matthews, and our four very active boys, we organize the trot with the help of our family, friends and a many wonderful volunteers. It's a great way to give to our local Food Bank during a season when many in our community need help.
